Artificial turf installation, built for the Gulf Coast
Artificial turf installation trades a waterlogged natural lawn for UV-stable synthetic grass on an engineered base. For Houston, though, the part that makes or breaks a yard isn’t the grass you can see. It’s the base underneath it. We sit flat, we flood, and the clay holds water, so turf that gets dropped on a yard without real drainage tends to pool and sink within a couple of seasons. Our crews dig the old lawn out, build a graded base that sends water where it should go, and lay a fully perforated backing so the next big storm runs straight through instead of sitting on top. What you’re left with is a lawn that never needs mowing or watering and doesn’t turn into a swamp in July.

Our regular backing moves more than 30 inches of water an hour and our fully permeable backings drain at over 100 inches per hour. We slope the base underneath so all of it has somewhere to go. Once the storm passes, the lawn is dry enough to walk on instead of holding puddles for two days.

Natural St. Augustine goes patchy and brown by the middle of August out here. Synthetic fibers don’t. Ours are UV-stabilized to hold their color through the worst of the heat, and the cool-tech infill keeps the surface from baking the way bargain turf does.

Most of the metro can go from a Monday quote to a Friday install. Whatever we put in the ground is covered the whole way, so if a seam ever lifts or the color fades, fixing it is our problem and not yours.

For backyards on gumbo clay: 1.75" natural-tone blend over a deepened drainage base — the deeper crushed-rock base is the part doing the work here; the turf above it stays green while the yard drains a Gulf storm. For pet runs: 1.5" antimicrobial turf with zeolite infill — humidity is what makes a Houston pet yard smell; antimicrobial fiber plus zeolite keeps it neutral through August. For putting greens: Dedicated putting surface with fringe cut-in — built over a base that will not heave when the clay swells after rain, so the green stays flat.

Houston's normal July high is 94 degrees. In direct sun turf runs hotter than grass, so we spec heat-reducing infill for play areas and pool decks. The humidity that wrecks St. Augustine has no effect on it at all.
Do Houston-area HOAs allow artificial turf?
The City of Houston requires no permit for residential turf, and master-planned communities usually want ACC approval first — Texas law protects drought-resistant natural landscaping, not synthetic grass, so the ACC sign-off is the step that matters. We prepare the spec and sample package boards ask for, and we have been through the process across Katy, Sugar Land, and The Woodlands.
Is turf good for dogs in Houston humidity?
Yes, with the right materials. Humidity is what makes a pet yard smell, so we use antimicrobial fiber with zeolite infill and a backing that drains rinse water straight through. The run stays neutral through August.
How long does an install take in the Houston area?
